History

Udacity, an online education company, first offered nanodegrees in 2014. Sebastian Thrun, a former Stanford University professor and Google employee, launched the firm after being motivated to start the program by his successful online Artificial Intelligence course. Udacity's inaugural nanodegree program was in web programming, and it swiftly grew to include degrees in other technology-related subjects such as data science, artificial intelligence, and self-driving vehicles. Because of the popularity of Udacity's nanodegree program, other online education providers, such as Coursera and edX, have created comparable programs. Many universities and colleges now offer nanodegree programs in a variety of subjects.
