The Estonian University of Life Sciences is Estonia’s leading centre for agriculture, forestry, veterinary medicine, food and environmental sciences, rural economy, and sustainable engineering. Our aim is to support the sustainable use of natural resources, advance the bio-economy, and improve the well-being of people, animals, and the environment.
Located in the academic city of Tartu, we offer a compact and green campus, modern laboratories, specialised research centres, a friendly atmosphere, and a supportive international community. On campus, you’ll find all key facilities within walking or cycling distance: lecture halls and research labs, the library, cafés, dormitories, a modern sports building, and various recreational opportunities.
With small group sizes and a friendly, supportive academic community, students benefit from close contact with professors, personalised guidance, and a strong sense of belonging. Our approach strongly emphasises practical training: students learn not only in modern lecture halls and labs, but also through hands-on fieldwork at well-equipped research and practice bases.
We offer three fully English-taught programmes in Veterinary Medicine (BA+MA), Landscape Architecture (MA), and Environmental Governance (MA), as well as five curricula in doctoral studies: Environmental Sciences and Applied Biology, Forestry, Agricultural Sciences, Engineering Sciences, and Veterinary Medicine and Food Sciences.
Our university is internationally recognised: in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2025, we are ranked 93rd in the world in agriculture and forestry, and we are listed among the top 1% of the world’s most-cited research institutions in plant and animal sciences, and in environment and ecology.
With around 3,000 students and 1,140 employees, including 545 academic staff members, the Estonian University of Life Sciences is a dynamic and research-driven institution. If you are passionate about sustainability, nature, animals, food, or the future of the environment, our university offers an ideal setting to learn, innovate, and make a real impact.
